Japon. Ensemble Hougaku Shijyuusoudan

Les membres de l’Ensemble Hougaku Shijyuusoudan explorent ici l’art du sankyoku :

un répertoire raffiné de musique de chambre instrumentale, auquel le chant apporte souvent un surcroît de poésie. Cette musique de trio, dont la pratique est établie dès la fin de l’ère Edo (fin XIX^e s.), connaît un important essor avec la sécularisation du jeu de la flûte shakuhachi (autrefois réservée aux moines zen itinérants de la secte Fuke).  

Musique ancienne et magnifiques interprètes d’aujourd’hui, issus du Conservatoire National de Tôkyô et tous lauréats de prestigieux concours : tout en perpétuant le répertoire traditionnel, ils multiplient les collaborations et s’attachent également à animer l’avenir de leurs instruments en commandant des œuvres à des compositeurs contemporains.

Ensemble Hougaku Shijyuusoudan. The Art of Sankyoku / Release date: March 2024 

The members of the Ensemble Hougaku Shijyuusoudan explore the art of sankyoku: a refined repertoire of instrumental chamber music, to which singing often adds a poetic touch. The practice of this trio music was established as early as the end of the Edo era (late 19th c.), and underwent a major growth with the secularization of shakuhachi flute playing (formerly reserved for itinerant Zen monks of the Fuke sect). 

Ancient music and magnificent performers of today, all graduates of the Tokyo National Conservatory and winners of prestigious competitions: while perpetuating the traditional repertoire, they are multiplying collaborations and are also committed to animating the future of their instruments by commissioning works from contemporary composers.
